No, I’m not from the primitive backwaters of civilization in a third world undertopia. I am from the USA, college educated, not controlled by narrow-minded overbearing bigoted parents. They were never like that or expressed opinions on arranged marriages when they were alive. According to the Holy Scriptures they are now sleeping in Jesus awaiting the resurrection of the just so I cannot ask advice of them now, although I wish I could.[1]

For a parent I have only my Heavenly Father to inquire of now. I know He will guide me because He promises to guide all who follow Him with sincere hearts.[2]

Yes, I want an arranged marriage, not by my earthly parents with whom I cannot communicate now, but by my Heavenly Father who has promised to never leave me nor forsake me.[3] I am afraid to choose for myself. I want my Heavenly Father to choose for me. He is perfect and has never made a mistake. I have made many mistakes and have not always been a good son. I trust Him to choose a life partner for me, to guide us both not only to the marriage altar but also, eventually, after living productive lives for Him on this earth, to His Eternal Kingdom.

The following passage comes to mind as I think upon these things:

” Our plans are not always God's plans. He may see that it is best for us and for His cause to refuse our very best intentions, as He did in the case of David. But of one thing we may be assured, He will bless and use in the advancement of His cause those who sincerely devote themselves and all they have to His glory. If He sees it best not to grant their desires He will counterbalance the refusal by giving them tokens of His love and entrusting to them another service.

In His loving care and interest for us, often He who understands us better than we understand ourselves refuses to permit us selfishly to seek the gratification of our own ambition... Often our plans fail that God's plans for us may succeed.

We are never called upon to make a real sacrifice for God. Many things He asks us to yield to Him, but in doing this we are but giving up that which hinders us in the heavenward way. Even when called upon to surrender those things which

in themselves are good, we may be sure that God is thus working out for us some higher good.

In the future life the mysteries that here have annoyed and disappointed us will be made plain. We shall see that our seemingly unanswered prayers and disappointed hopes have been among our greatest blessings. [4]

Yes, I want a marriage arranged by my Heavenly Father. After all, it was our magnanimous Creator who made us male and female and invented marriage. And, because He invented marriage and knows us personally better than anyone (including ourselves) ever could, who better than He to bring two of His children together in the holy institution of  Marriage?  Jesus performed His first miracle[5] at a marriage feast so I see no reason He would not still today be willing to miraculously bless a man and a woman seeking His guidance finding a marriage partner that they might with His blessing enter into one of the only two sacred institutions to come down to us from the Garden of Eden.[6]

No matter that daughter and son of God be separated by continents and cultures and the widest of oceans, He is well able to direct their separate paths until they meet and truly become “one flesh” in Him.[7]

What about those of us who have for some time been praying for a divinely ordained life partnership and still have not found the answer to their prayers? That question will be explored in future posts that will cover, among other things, The Biblical Secrets Of Answered Prayer.

It is not possible that the Great Creator of the Universe, He who created the human brain and ear and tongue and heart, does not know how to communicate His will to His children. Nor is it possible that He as our loving Creator does not wish to communicate with us. He yearns to bless and guide and protect us more than any earthly parents could desire to do the same for their children.

He who created the deepest longings and most powerful drives of the human heart well knows how best to provide for their fulfillment and engender the highest happiness of His children. Holy and happy indeed will be the marriage that is engaged, contracted, consummated, and lived in accord with the divinely ordained blueprint. Jesus is just as willing to perform marriage miracles today as He was when He performed His first miracle at that wedding celebration in Cana so long ago. Single and seeking - or not; married and happy – or not, we all have the unfailing promises: “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when yeshallsearch for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-14.” But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:32-34

[1] According to the Holy Scriptures the righteous dead sleep in the grave until the resurrection of the righteous: 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. For the complete Bible teaching on what happens at death click here.

[6] We have today only two sacred institutions that have come down to us all the way from the Garden of Eden. Both are connected with and celebratory of Creation. One is the Divine Institution of Marriage, the holy union of a son of God and a daughter of God whereby they become one flesh and partner with God in the act creation; the other is the Sabbath which celebrates and reminds us that God is our Creator. Keeping the Sabbath holy signifies to the entire universe that the only God we worship is our Creator and that we have righteousness by faith in Him who is both our Creator and our Re-Creator, our Redeemer who has given us new hearts and made us new creations in Christ Jesus.
