THE PROMISE

Malachi 3:8-10

“Will a man rob God?  Yet you have robbed Me!  But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’  In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse,For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation.  10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lordof hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

THE PRACTICE

It was this scripture that caused me to make a commitment to pay my tithes and offerings no matter what else was going on.  Soon after I made this commitment, I was tested.

I received my paycheck and took out one hundred dollars, fifty dollars for groceries and fifty dollars for tithes and offerings; everything else when to pay the bills.  I had only the fifty dollars for the whole month’s groceries.  I went to the grocery store.  I had everything I needed and was at the checkout line when I realized that I had lost the fifty dollars.  I thought for a minute that I had another fifty dollars but immediately said “NO, I will not spend what I have set aside for the Lord”.  I put all the groceries back on the shelves and went home.  I was upset and didn’t know what I was going to do.  Once I got home I decided all I could do was pray, so that’s what I did.

THE PROVISION

As I was finishing my prayer, there was a knock on my door.  I opened the door and it was the pastor of my church.  He looked at me as if he was very puzzled and said “I don’t know what is going on, but the Lord told me to buy this food and bring it to you”.  He had two paper bags and pretty good size box of food that he brought for me.  I smiled as tears ran down my face.  The Lord had prompted my pastor to buy this food for me before I had even lost the money.  The Lord truly does know all things and He loves us more than we can imagine.

This experience has made helped me to know that the Lord will provide for me; that there is no need to worry because He will provide for all of my needs.

Matt. 6:26-33

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
